Born the 2nd of April, 1788, in Husum, Schleswig; died the 13th of August, 1869, in Nonnthal, Salzburg, having converted to Catholicism in his final years. He married Cornelia Susanna Peterson, lived extravagantly beyond his means, and abandoned his family — a sequence of events that one regards with the requisite mixture of disapproval and weary recognition. His wife and children survived, through their own hard work, in Trondheim.
