Student at Trondheim Cathedral School, 1755; theological examination, 1757; legal examination, 1764; incumbent at Lidemark, 1768. Moved to Borgund in Sunnmøre in 1785 and was appointed rural dean of Sunnmøre. Elected as 2nd alternate representative from Romsdal county to the Eidsvoll constitutional assembly of 1814, but declined on grounds of age. Died the 25th of October, 1823.
