An anecdote from Stranda Bygdebok II (1961): Hans Nielsen Hauge visited Stranda in 1799 and encountered the incumbent, Baade, in an evidently advanced state of refreshment, in the farmyard. Hauge addressed him with the remark: "Would that thou wert as full of the Spirit as thou art now full of wine!" — a rebuke that, whilst undeniably apposite, one suspects Baade was not entirely in a condition to appreciate.
