Born in Flensburg on the 21st of September, 1761; died the 14th of February, 1833. Journalist, bank director, and the first organiser of the 17th of May celebrations in Trondheim — a distinction that, with the benefit of hindsight, one might consider more consequential than he himself realised at the time. He edited Trondhjemske Tidende from 1795, and founded Trondhjems Budstikke in 1798. He was prosecuted for press freedom — and acquitted. He served as a board member of the Bank of Norway until his death.
